Creation of 10 new College Centres for Technology Transfer!

September 4, 2018

Hélène David, the Minister responsible for Higher Education, recently announced the creation of 10 new College Centres for Technology Transfer (CCTT). "This further strengthens one of the channels by which college researchers can contribute to the intellectual, economic, social, scientific and technological development of Québec," said the Board of Directors and director general of the Association pour la recherche au collégial (ARC).

The newly recognized CCTTs specialize in different areas of technological and social innovation: College Centre for Technology Transfer in artificial Intelligence (CCTTia), affiliated with Collège Bois-de-Boulogne and John Abbott College; Centre collégial d'expertise en gérontologie (CCEG), affiliated with Cégep de Drummondville; Center for Circus Arts Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer (CRITAC), affiliated with the National Circus School; Centre de recherche et d'innovation en art et en engagement social (ARTENSO), affiliated with Cégep de Saint-Laurent; Centre de recherche et d'innovation en sécurité civile (Centre RISC), affiliated with Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy; Centre d'expertise et de recherche appliquée en sciences pharmaceutiques (CERASP), affiliated with John Abbott College and Cégep Gérald-Godin; Centre d'innovation de l'industrie d'accueil (CIIA), affiliated with the Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec; Centre de recherche et de transfert en cybersécurité (CyberOutaouais.org), affiliated with Cégep de l'Outaouais; Écofaune boréal, affiliated with Cégep de Saint-Félicien; and Living Lab en innovation ouverte (LLio), affiliated with Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup.

The recognition of these 10 new centres brings the number of CCTTs to 59, all supported by the Québec government and affiliated with 40 CEGEPS, two publicly funded private colleges and one government school, and located within 15 administrative regions of Québec. The college teaching profession can take great pride in having these college centres for technology transfer that form such vital links between colleges and young researchers on the one hand, and between small and medium-sized companies and non-profit organizations on the other. The CCTTs provide their partners with technical support, information and training. Many college researchers conduct projects with such partners, giving them the opportunity to make students more aware of research in these fields. "Here at ARC we warmly congratulate the teams in these new CCTTs and they can count on our full collaboration in promoting their research," said Lynn Lapostolle, Director General of ARC.
