Students in the Hospitality and Tourism Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program at Timmins High & Vocational School (TH&VS) recently had an amazing experiential learning opportunity supported by their Teacher, Alex Mathieu, and local partners.
Students worked with JR's Hot Sauce to develop and market a new sauce called Spice and Tang.
Students were involved at every step of the creation process, selecting the flavour pallet and ingredients for the sauce, as well as creating the label design.
Students also had the opportunity to learn about the business aspect of product development. James Parisi of The Business Enterprise Centre provided entrepreneurship training.
The sauce is now available at Johnston's Your Independent Grocer in Timmins.
