On Friday, April 25 well-known fashion designer Simon Chang came to Champlain to present Adam's P.A.C.E. teacher Natalie Henri with the Difference Maker Award. This award is given to an individual who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to individuals with special needs.
Henri, who will be retiring this year, is the coordinator of the Adam's P.A.C.E. program run by the Riverside School Board and hosted at Champlain. She was recognized for her dedication and commitment to the P.A.C.E. program over the years, which provides Post-Secondary Alternative Community-based Education designed to meet the needs of students who are in their final years of schooling and eager to have the Cegep experience.
The students are at Champlain three days a week where they audit a course, develop life skills, and integrate in student life by participating in activities and events on campus.
Henri was nominated by Ann Taylor, who founded the P.A.C.E. program 20 years ago. She helped establish the partnership with Riverside School Board and Champlain Saint-Lambert and the program was named in memory of her son Adam Taylor.
Henri was very honoured to receive the award from designer Simon Chang in person, as part of a celebration including all the P.A.C.E. students, staff and volunteers on Friday.
Simon Chang has been involved in philanthropic work since the 1980s and through his foundation contributes to many worthy causes.
It was a festive event, highlighting the incredible work of Henri, the students and those who have supported the P.A.C.E. program over the course of two decades.
