Two Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) students have recently been announced as recipients of Schulich Leader Scholarship Fund scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to 100 high school graduates from across Canada who are enrolling in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) program.
Bradford District HS student Eleen A. has received a $100,000 scholarship to support her studies in science at York University, while Nathan M. from Bear Creek SS has been awarded a $120,000 scholarship to pursue studies in engineering and business administration at Western University.
"Eleen has a passion for learning. She is strong-willed, hardworking, and has always demonstrated exceptional attention to detail," says Marie Accettola, teacher at Bradford District HS. "Eleen demonstrates strong leadership skills and has had a positive influence on her peers and within our school community."
"Nathan not only excels academically but also selflessly dedicates his time to numerous school and community events. He consistently demonstrates responsibility and maturity in all aspects of school life," said Kristen Alderson, guidance counsellor at Bear Creek SS. "His genuine approach to helping others and his kind demeanour are contagious. His contributions have made the school a better place for other students."
The Schulich Leader Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 by businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich in recognition of the increasing importance and impact that STEM disciplines will have on the prosperity of future generations.
