Announcing recipients of the Rebekah Uqi Williams Scholarship

Each year, the Department of Family Services awards five scholarships of up to $10,000 to dedicated Nunavut students enrolled in post-secondary programs related to social work, counselling or psychology in Canada.

The scholarship honours the legacy of Rebekah Uqi Williams and helps recipients cover the costs of their education as they prepare for careers supporting others.

The Department of Family Services is proud to announce the 2025 recipients:

  • Tanesha Dean of Iqaluit, who is studying psychology at the University of Ottawa and plans to become a child psychologist.
  • Shantel Qirngnuq of Kugaaruk, who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work program through Nunavut Arctic College and Memorial University.
  • Charlotte Siksik of Rankin Inlet, who is studying psychology at Acadia University, with a minor in criminology and criminal justice, and plans to become a clinical psychologist.
  • Faith Voisey of Rankin Inlet, who is in her second year of Nunavut Arctic College's Social Service Worker Program and plans to become a social service worker.
  • Katrina Anderson of Rankin Inlet, who is also in her second year of Nunavut Arctic College's Social Service Worker Program and plans to become a social service worker.

Congratulations to the recipients on their outstanding achievements and dedication and thank you to all applicants for your interest in the scholarship program.
