As we mark National School Principals' Day on May 1, the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board is proud to recognize Andrea Farkas, who has been named Principal of the Year by the Catholic Principals' Council of Ontario (CPCO).

Andrea Farkas has been a dedicated member of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board since 1989, serving in various teaching roles before moving into administration. She began her vice-principalship at an Equal Opportunities school, where she strengthened her commitment to supporting vulnerable students and families. Over the past 17 and a half years, she has led four different school communities as principal, fostering environments rooted in equity, compassion, and high expectations. A strong advocate for underprivileged students, she has consistently championed inclusive practices and access to opportunities.
The CPCO Principal of the Year Award recognizes outstanding leadership, commitment, and service to Catholic education. Andrea's recognition is a reflection of the faith-filled leadership of our principals and vice-principals, whose presence and witness continue to bring the light of Christ to our students, their families, and our school communities each day.
