VANIER COLLEGE
Sevak Manjikian receives 2025-2026 Teaching Excellence Award

September 14, 2026

Sevak has made profound contributions both inside and outside the classroom. As former coordinator of both the Liberal Arts program and the Humanities department, he has served as a vital bridge between generations of faculty. Through his involvement on Academic Council, the Board of Governors, and numerous college initiatives, he consistently approached institutional work with integrity, thoughtfulness, and a deep commitment to students.

Sevak's dedication to student success is evident across multiple initiatives. Six years ago, he co-founded the Student Coach program, guiding student-athletes to build time management skills, academic discipline, and personal confidence. He has also led transformative international trips, integrating global coursework with real-world applications to broaden students' perspectives.

In the classroom, Sevak is recognized for fostering inclusive, respectful environments where open dialogue thrives, even on sensitive topics surrounding religion and identity. As one student shared, he creates a trusted space where individuals from diverse backgrounds feel valued and encouraged to participate.

Beyond his formal roles, colleagues highlighted Sevak's warmth and generosity, noting his habit of building connections across departments and breaking down institutional silos. Supported by over 20 letters from students, alumni, faculty, staff, and external peers, his recognition reflects a career built on genuine care and leadership.

Congratulations to Sevak Manjikian on this well-deserved honour.
