KITCHENER
Teen wins media award for debunking misinformation

Ask any high school student what they like to do in their spare time and they might say hang out with friends, play video games or play sports. For 17-year-old Chloe Kizito of Kitchener, it\'s debunking misinformation. She\'s part of the MediaSmarts teen fact-checking network. She researches online claims, then debunks them in videos aimed at young audiences. Now, she\'s being recognized for that work. She\'s the inaugural recipient of MediaSmarts' Youth Leader Award, which recognizes a young person who is making a difference in digital media literacy and helping others engage with media more critically.
