The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Mary Donaghy's unanimous appointment as the next Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer, effective July 1, 2025.
She will succeed Dr. Thomas D'Amico, who is retiring after an outstanding 35-year career in Catholic education.

With over 30 years of experience in Ottawa Catholic schools, Ms. Donaghy brings deep insight into the Board's mission and a long-standing commitment to students, staff, and families. Her career has been shaped by focusing on student learning, staff development, and building inclusive school communities where people feel supported and respected.
Over the years, she has served in a wide range of roles - teacher, Department Head, Vice-Principal, Principal, Superintendent, and most recently, Associate Director of Education.
Ms. Donaghy has led in every position with integrity, a steady presence, and a clear sense of purpose. She is known for her collaborative approach, thoughtful decision-making, and ability to bring people together around a shared vision.
Ms. Donaghy has also helped shape the OCSB's direction through her work in curriculum renewal, early learning, special education, policy development, and the Board's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Director of Education, Ms. Donaghy will collaborate closely with students, staff, families, Trustees, the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall, and community partners to further the Board's mission and Strategic Commitments. She will focus on fostering innovation through a continued emphasis on Deep Learning and AI, prioritizing student and staff well-being, and strengthening community connections.
