MOHAWK COLLEGE
President Paul Armstrong joins CICan Board of Directors

July 7, 2025

Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) welcomed Mohawk College President Paul Armstrong to its Board of Directors this week. Paul will serve as a Director At-Large, along with Marie-Chantale Lortie, Strategic Advisor and Chair of the Board at Microcrédit Montréal.

Founded in 1972, CICan serves as the national and international voice of Canada's largest post-secondary education network, representing publicly funded colleges, institutes, CEGEPs and polytechnics across Canada. More than 95% of Canada's population live within 50 kilometres of a member institution.

"As post-secondary institutions navigate a fast-changing landscape shaped by political, economic and social disruption, strong leadership and good governance are essential. These new appointments reflect CICan's commitment to ensuring strong, strategic oversight during this pivotal period," said CICan in a release announcing the appointments today. In addition to Paul and Marie-Chantale, CICan appointed Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan to serve as the new Regional Representative for Ontario. Anne Marie is President and CEO of Humber Polytechnic-the first woman to hold the position-and she is the incoming Chair of the Colleges Ontario.

CICan's Board of Directors comprises leaders from across the country who provide strategic oversight and sector-wide insight to support CICan's mission. The new directors were elected during CICan's Annual General Meeting, held virtually on June 25.
