Wendy Ward (left) and Philip Sullivan have been appointed Associate Deans in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs.
Ward and Sullivan's new roles divide the previous Associate Dean position into two part-time roles focusing on Student Success, and Policy and Programs. As Associate Deans, they share complementary strengths and a commitment to supporting students, postdoctoral scholars and faculty in every phase of the graduate journey.
Sullivan has assumed the role of Associate Dean, Student Success, for a three-year term.
A faculty member at Brock since 2000, the Professor of Kinesiology has served as Chair and Graduate Program Director in Kinesiology and as head coach of the Brock men's rugby team.
His research focuses on team dynamics, effective coaching and student-athlete mental health, including a partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association aimed at supporting student-athletes' well-being.
Ward, an expert in research and academic policy, will serve as Interim Associate Dean, Policy and Programs for a one-year term.
As Professor of Kinesiology and Health Sciences, her research interests include nutritional sciences and bone cell biology.
Ward previously held a Canada Research Chair in Bone and Muscle Development and has played a national leadership role as part of the Nutrition Working Group for the 2023 Clinical Practice Guideline on Osteoporosis and Fracture Prevention in Canada.
Ward and Sullivan succeed Brian Roy, who served as Associate Dean from 2020 to 2025.
