Catholic Board Announces New Director of Education

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is excited to announce the appointment of Kimberly Dixon as its new Director of Education. Kimberly comes to the Board with more than two decades of education and leadership experience, most recently as a Superintendent of Education at Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB). She begins in her new role on August 25th.

"After an extensive and thorough recruitment process, the Board of Trustees is delighted to welcome Kimberly Dixon to Simcoe Muskoka Catholic as the new Director of Education," said Maria Hardie, Board Chair." Our Board continues to grow and in particular we are welcoming many students and families from the Greater Toronto Area - Kimberly's experiences as an educator and leader from Toronto Catholic will be a great benefit. In addition to a wealth of experience, I am confident that Kimberly's strong leadership, deep faith and positive energy will serve our system well."

"I consider myself a lifelong learner and I am humbled to have this opportunity to lead, learn and grow at SMCDSB."

In her 25 years at TCDSB, Kimberly served as teacher, vice principal, principal and superintendent. She has a strong background in science and mathematics and was privileged to lead the launch of TCDSB's first Mathematics Achievement Action Plan, which has been met with tremendous success. Kimberly values student achievement, equity and positive mental health and well-being. She is a faithful member of her home parish.

From the classroom to senior leadership, she helped shape programs that strengthened student learning. Her leadership contributed to improved math outcomes for our students and is one of the reasons our Board continues to score above the provincial average.
