The Alberta Association of Career Colleges (AAOCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Dmetri Berko as its new Executive Director, marking an exciting new chapter for Alberta's private career education sector.

With more than 15 years of leadership experience across both private and public post-secondary institutions, Dmetri brings a proven record of strengthening educational operations, compliance, and strategic enrolment management. His appointment signals AAOCC's renewed commitment to advancing the voice of high-quality, student-focused career colleges that help Albertans train, retrain, and thrive in today's evolving economy.
"Career colleges are an essential part of Alberta's training and employment ecosystem," said Dmetri Berko. "Our members are committed to delivering programs that lead to real jobs, real skills, and real economic impact. AAOCC's role is to champion these outcomes and support institutions that uphold the highest standards of quality and accountability."
Representing a network of licensed and regulated institutions across the province, the Alberta Association of Career Colleges serves as the unified voice for Alberta's private career colleges, institutions dedicated to providing flexible, career-driven education that helps students enter the workforce faster and meet the needs of employers across sectors such as health care, business, and technology.
Dmetri's mandate will focus on four key priorities:
- Advocacy and Collaboration: Strengthening partnerships with the Private Career Colleges Branch of Alberta Advanced Education, Student Aid Alberta, and the National Association of Career Colleges.
- Member Growth and Support: Enhancing service delivery and engagement with member institutions through consistent communication and operational tools.
- Training and Professional Development: Expanding compliance, leadership, and operational excellence programs for Alberta colleges and their staff.
- Quality and Accountability: Promoting transparency and best practices that reinforce public confidence in Alberta's private career education sector.
