We are pleased to announce the appointment of Paula Bender as the new Superintendent, Student Achievement & Well-Being, effective February 1, 2026.

In 2003, Paula began working as a secondary teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), serving students and families at Preston High School and Huron Heights Secondary School. She was appointed Vice-Principal at Huron Heights and Forest Heights Collegiate and Principal of Preston High School, then returned to Forest Heights as Principal.
Paula brings more than 23 years of experience in public education and dedication to serving students, staff, families and the community. She is also a WRDSB graduate.

"Paula's experience, leadership and demonstrated commitment to supporting student achievement and belonging will continue to be a benefit to the WRDSB."
Outside of work, Paula enjoys reading, being outside and spending time with her family. Paula is excited for the new leadership role and continuing to serve WRDSB students, staff, parents, families and community members.
