The Niagara Catholic District School Board's Board of Trustees announces the resignation of Director of Education Camillo Cipriano after six years with the board.
His final day at Niagara Catholic will be June 5.
"Mr. Cipriano advised the Board of Trustees at a special board meeting on Thursday evening (May 21) that he has accepted a position with another publicly funded school board in Ontario," said Chair of the Board Danny Di Lorenzo. "While we are sad to lose a leader with such strong, faith-based management skills who has been committed to creating a culture focused on student success and staff development, it is not surprising that his immense talent would be recognized by across the province. We are proud of what has been accomplished under Mr. Cipriano's leadership, most notably our improved math and literacy results and our growth by nearly 5,000 students. As one of Ontario's top-performing school boards, we will continue to build upon these successes in the future. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank Mr. Cipriano for his dedication to Niagara Catholic and wish him every success in his new position."
Mr. Cipriano became Niagara Catholic's third Director of Education on September 1, 2020. He created a new senior leadership team that led the board through the COVID-19 pandemic. When schools reopened in 2022, through Mr. Cipriano's leadership, the team successfully focused its attention on seamlessly re-engaging students with in-person learning.
To support a seamless transition, the Board of Trustees has named Associate Director of Education - Corporate Service Giancarlo Vetrone, as the Interim Director of Education of Niagara Catholic, effective immediately. Director Cipriano will remain in his position until June 5.
