Red Maple P.S. is working with community partners to help build connections with families.
The school holds a monthly session for families, bringing in community partners to share information about supports and programs available in the community, and to answer questions. This includes partners who offer support for newcomer families and those who represent the first languages spoken by families at the school.
"We welcome so many newcomers to Canada and for many of our families, it's their first experience in a school in a Canadian system, and so it's really important for us to make those connections," said Amalia Lucas, Principal, Red Maple P.S.
The school also brings in different school staff to help answer questions families may have about schooling.
