HOLLAND COLLEGE
Music Performance students prepare for second show of the Winter Concert series

January 30, 2025

Second-year students from Holland College's Music Performance program, part of the School of Performing Arts, are hard at work preparing the next show in the SopA Winter Concert Series, which takes place in the Florence Simmons Performance Hall on February 7 at 7 p.m.

The students featured in this concert are guitarist Iván Garnica, vocalists Kendra Lyttle and Daniel Gonzalez, and bassists Chris Chisholm and Charlotte Lloyd. Program Manager Liam Corcoran said the music the students choose can be deeply personal.

"In each concert, five students create 20-minute sets that represent their own unique musical journey; the students select the music they want to play and the musicians that will help them bring this music to life on stage," he said. "The concerts are usually very well attended with a mix of family, friends, and music lovers from the community."

This show will feature music from a wide variety of genres, including jazz funk, indie pop, video game music, a little classical, and some original compositions from two of Chris Chisholm's bands, Mango Street Trio and We Bully Clouds.

The Winter Concert Series features four nights of music. The third concert will take place March 7, and the final performance will be on March 28.  All concerts in the series are free for the public to attend. Cash donations and non-perishable food items will be accepted in support of the Holland College Food Bank for these events.
