NORTHERN LIGHTS COLLEGE
Vermilion Energy donates $10,000 for new bursary

February 18, 2025
The NLC Foundation is pleased to announce the new Vermilion Energy Bursary. Clarence Malbeuf was on campus on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, to present a cheque to The Foundation for $10,000, which will be broken down into four awards of $2,500 available to students in the following fields:
  • Electrical Foundation
  • Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation
  • Millwright Foundation
  • Pipefitting Trades Foundation

Vermilion Energy made their first donation in 2022 for the NLC Rodeo and donated again in 2023. With additional donations to the South Peace Child Development Centre, they are supporting our students all through their education journey.

The company is global and has been around for 30 years, with the corporate head office in Calgary.

"Giving back to the communities we serve is a pillar of the company," Clarence says. "This bursary is a great opportunity to get youth that are local, that might not necessarily want to leave the area, to have an opportunity to build a career in our industry. It also gives local students the skills they need to be successful in the industry."

He said a similar bursary was created for Northern Lakes College and had successful graduates find long-term careers with their company.

To qualify for this award, students must be enrolled in one of the listed programs and demonstrate financial need for the award. To apply, head over to https://nlc.awardspring.ca/ and complete your application before January 25, 2025.
