UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH
U of G United Way Campaign Raises Over $ 460,000, Exceeding Goal

February 24, 2025

The University of Guelph community has exceeded its fundraising goal for the annual United Way campaign, raising $460,481 in 2024. Incredible efforts from staff, faculty, students, volunteers and alumni have led to the U of G campaign surpassing its target of $450,000.

The funds ensure the support of vital community programs, including food security initiatives, housing programs, youth service and other community efforts across Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin.

Dr. John Walsh, professor of history at the College of Arts, served as campaign co-chair alongside Claire Alexander, associate director of ceremonies and events.

"It's truly inspiring to see how every contribution matters," says Walsh. "Big or small, each donation can make a lasting impact. The U of G community's commitment to supporting the United Way every year speaks volumes about who we are and the values we share."

"The United Way doesn't just strengthen our local community, it strengthens our campus community as well," says Alexander. "This year, we really felt like the campaign was back after the difficult COVID years, and people across campus were excited to find new ways to connect with one another with the shared purpose of helping others."

The co-chairs thank the dedication of U of G's ambassadors, campaign steering committee members, partner organizations and the broader campus community.
