Niagara Region is excited to announce that Orchard Park Public School in Niagara Falls has been named the winner of this year's Paint-a-Snowplow contest.

In early October, Niagara Region delivered a snowplow blade to each of four schools. Students had two weeks to turn their plow into a work of art, expressing their creativity and school spirit through their designs. On October 17, guest judges, including Niagara Falls City Councillor Lori Lococo and Region staff, visited each school to evaluate the entries. The initiative, which encourages creativity and community spirit, produced stunning artwork on the snowplows.
Orchard Park's winning design was chosen for its bold use of colour that captured their school spirit, for its creative use of the entire plow and for the enthusiasm they showed in explaining to judges how teamwork, planning and problem solving shaped their design.
The program drew participation from four schools in Niagara Falls: Orchard Park, Valley Way, St. Vincent DePaul and St. John Henry Newman. All four beautiful plows are proudly displayed for public viewing at Niagara Region Headquarters at 1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way in Thorold until the end of the day on Tuesday, October 28. They will soon be installed on trucks and be in service this winter, keeping our roads safe and clear.
This was Niagara Region's third year hosting the Paint-a-Snowplow contest. Plans are underway to continue the friendly competition next year and to extend the opportunity to another Niagara municipality.
We congratulate and thank each and every student who took part in this challenge. The energy, passion and thoughtful collaboration on this project was clearly evident in all designs.

"We were truly thrilled to once again connect with students and teachers in Niagara through our third annual Paint-a-Snowplow program. Each year, this initiative brings creativity, colour and community pride to our roads and we are so proud to showcase these incredible works of art on our snowplows throughout the winter season.
"We extend our sincere thanks to Councillor Lococo and our dedicated staff who took part as judges, and to the school communities whose enthusiasm and imagination continue to make this program such a success.
"We look forward to bringing Paint-a-Snowplow back for its fourth season next year and to continue building meaningful connections across the region in the years to come."
