Every year, students in Sheila De Luca's Grade 10 Civics and Careers class find a way to give back to the community.
With a new hospital currently under construction in the city, students held a raffle from January 7-16, raising $1,900 for the Niagara Health Foundation, to be allocated to the South Niagara Hospital Site.
Through this hands-on project, students developed valuable workplace skills while learning how to plan a successful event that educates, raised awareness, and generated funds for a meaningful cause.
Most importantly, they experienced the impact of civic engagement and the importance of contributing to the health and well-being of their community.
The students presented the cheque to representatives from the Niagara Health Foundation on February 23.
