The works of art of three École secondaire Saint-Joseph (Wawa) students have been recognized by the Honorable Ted Arnott, president of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, during an art exhibit held as part of the Youth Arts Program. Charlie Lavoie (grade 10), Sophie Guertin (grade 11) and Elsa McGregor (grade 12), were pleased to learn their art pieces had been selected among many others to be displayed in the Legislative Building.

On March 24, 2025, the three artists from École secondaire Saint-Joseph (Wawa) and their visual arts teacher, Ms. Annette Lytwenko, were invited to take part in a recognition ceremony in Toronto. This long-awaited event enabled Charlie, Elsa and Sophie to showcase their talents, see the featured artwork and meet other young artists from across the province.
Each year, the Youth Arts Program celebrates the incredible artistic talents of young Ontarians aged 12 to 18. Art submissions consist of various media, including photography, sculptures, drawings and acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings. Selected art pieces are displayed throughout the Legislative Building from January to March.
'The school community is very proud to see Charlie, Elsa and Sophie's talents displayed at a provincial level,'' stated Ms. Stéphanie McGregor, Vice principal of École secondaire Saint-Joseph (Wawa). 'We are grateful to Ms. Annette Lytwenko for accompanying the students and encouraging their participation in rewarding opportunities that foster personal and academic development''.
