Sudbury Secondary School will host an evening celebration this fall to mark the 40th anniversary of its arts education program.
Alumni, staff, and supporters will come together at the Fromagerie on Elgin Street on Friday, September 19, 2025 to commemorate the school's contribution to arts, culture and education locally.
"We look forward to an evening filled with music, memories, laughter and connection as we gather to remember and reminisce," says Principal Heather Downey.
Prior to the evening celebration, the doors of Sudbury Secondary School will be open from 1 pm to 3 pm to welcome participants for school tours.
As the years evolved, so did Sudbury Secondary School. Today, the arts wing features the city's best-equipped dance studio, drama studio/black box theatre, media lab with green screens, visual arts studios, Mac lab, photography classroom and darkroom, vocal and instrumental music rooms and practice rooms, and a spectacular 450-seat auditorium to showcase student talent.
"As a former student, teacher, and now principal, I've had the unique privilege of experiencing the Sudbury Secondary School arts program from every perspective," said Principal Downey. She added: "We look forward to honouring the creativity, talent and community that have shaped this school for four decades and continuing that legacy for future generations."
If you would like to attend the evening celebration on September 19th, and have yet to sign up, there is still time to register through Eventbrite : https://sss40.eventbrite.ca
