Special Olympics Soccer Qualifier Brings Schools Together in Spirit of Inclusion

October 30, 2025

On October 7, Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School once again opened its doors to host the annual Special Olympics Soccer Qualifier Tournament. The event brought together students from across Hamilton including teams from St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School for a spirited day of competition, teamwork, and celebration.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as players, coaches, families, and friends gathered to cheer on their teams. Led by the Bishop Tonnos unified Special Olympians, the tournament was about more than goals and medals, it was a joyful showcase of inclusion, sportsmanship, and community.

"BT extends heartfelt thanks to the Special Olympics for a meaningful event," said Bishop Tonnos Teacher Andrea Battaglia.

"We're especially grateful for the way it fostered inclusion and ensured that every student felt valued, and most importantly, had a great time."
