SEE Global Sustainability Summit

May 15, 2024

On April 25 & 26, Vice President, Academic Dr. Cebert Adamson and Research Chair, Sustainability Dr. Tony Cupido participated in the inaugural SEE Global Sustainability Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The summit provided a platform for industry experts, researchers, and academics from around the world to engage in discussions and share their research findings and insights regarding sustainability, net-zero initiatives, circular economy solutions, and strategies for building resilient cities and communities.

Dr. Adamson shared our institutional efforts in building a globally sustainable workforce through the Pan-Canadian Canadian Colleges for Resilient Recovery (C2R2).  While Dr. Cupido presented on the Joyce Centre for Partnership and Innovation and the significance of creating the first zero-carbon institutional building in Canada. Mohawk College also received an award at the conference, placing third in the category of academic excellence for our work with the C2R2.

The research paper submitted at the conference, entitled, Building A Global Sustainable Future: A Pan-Canadian Approach for Workforce Development in Pursuit of a Low-Carbon Economy,  received the Third Best Paper Award in the Academic Category. Congratulations to the entire team.

The Conference was a great opportunity to engage in discussion and explore innovative strategies, technologies, and policies aimed at fostering sustainable and resilient development, while charting a path towards creating inclusive, equitable, and thriving communities.
