Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) has been recognized with the Roots and Shoots Award by Sustainable Waterloo Region for our collaboration in bringing microforests to 22 schools across our board.
Since 2021, we've worked closely with Sustainable Waterloo Region, along with community organizations and volunteers, to enhance green spaces at our schools. These microforests create new outdoor educational spaces and learning opportunities for students and educators.
This achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of our Facilities Services team, Outdoor Education Specialists and school administrators whose commitment to sustainability has helped bring this vision to life. We would especially like to recognize Mike Colvin, Facility Manager, for his leadership and unwavering support throughout this initiative. His championship of this work has been key to its success.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
