TYNDALE UNIVERSITY
Tyndale University one of more than 400 Global Leadership Summit sites across North America

August 22, 2024

Tyndale University once again hosted the Global Leadership Summit on campus. The 2024 event took place on August 8-9, with more than 100 local leaders in attendance.

The Summit has been empowering leaders worldwide for more than 30 years, offering a unique opportunity to host world-class leadership training directly in local communities around the globe.

This year, Tyndale hosted a Global Leadership Summit Local Session over lunch on the second day of the event. The topic focused on Strengthening Community through Tragedy: Lessons Learned from the 2018 Toronto Van Attack. The tragedy sparked a response from local Willowdale leaders to come together and support the community in practical ways, creating a network that is still active today.

Speaking on behalf of the network were Laura Puiras, children's pastor of Toronto LifeSpring Christian Fellowship; Sean Huh, senior pastor of Gospel City Church; and Dr. Wilma Nevers, Director of the Wellness Centre at Tyndale University.

The 2024 Summit was hosted in more than 400 participating host site venues in the United States and Canada, and online.

International keynote speakers included:

  • Joni Eareckson Tada, founder and CEO of Joni and Friends, a disability advocate and bestselling author;
  • Craig Groeschel, founder and Senior Pastor of Life Church and bestselling author;
  • Molly Fletcher, former top sports agent, podcast host and bestselling author; and
  • Will Guidara, Hospitality Evangelist, restaurateur and bestselling author.

At the start of the second day, it was announced that Tyndale won the GLS social media contest, prompting Craig Groeschel, one of the keynote speakers, to give a shoutout to Philip Yan, Director of the Centre for Redemptive Entrepreneurship: "It seems like you're having a blast with over 100 local leaders there. We love how much you're getting out of the Summit. We're going to send you every speakers' latest book as you invest in the leaders of Toronto, to say thank you."

"The Summit is part of a global event that took place in over 400 locations around the world and throughout the year at host sites just like ours," said Kevin Kirk, Senior Vice President of External Relations, and co-emcee of the Tyndale host site alongside Philip. "These 100 local leaders engaged with the Summit alongside thousands of other leaders from around the world, all of whom are looking to build leadership skills and a better tomorrow."
