Fanshawe fashion design students will be featured in a short documentary film called The Upcycled Effect on Monday, October 6, which marks the end of Sustainable Fashion Week Canada 2025.
Over the past year, Fashion Design students were filmed as they created a new runway collection using discarded clothes. Cameras captured the process as students cut, stitched and reshaped waste into fashion with purpose.
"The Upcycled Effect demonstrates the kind of experiential learning that makes our program so strong," says Nahlia Loren Couto, professor in the Fashion Design program and the documentary's filmmaker. "This kind of project-based, community-engaged learning is exactly what keeps our students inspired, engaged, and eager to continue exploring sustainable fashion."
