LAMBTON KENT DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks Historic Beginning for Blue Coast District School

October 15, 2025

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is proud to announce the official groundbreaking of the new Blue Coast District School in Forest, Ontario a transformative Kindergarten to Grade 12 facility that will serve over 1,100 students and unite four existing schools under one roof.

Held on October 9, 2025, the ceremony marked a milestone moment in a journey that began in 2018 with the launch of a community-wide Pupil Accommodation Review. The new school will consolidate Aberarder Central School, Bosanquet Central Public School, Kinnwood Central Public School, and North Lambton Secondary School, while supporting the communities of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation, Lambton Shores, and Plympton-Wyoming.

"This is more than a construction project," said Director of Education, Gary Girardi. "It's a commitment to a future shaped by learning, belonging, and hope. This school reflects the aspirations of our students, families, and communities and the power of collaboration to turn vision into reality."

The $74-million facility is fully funded by the province and designed with sustainability, innovation, and community connection in mind. It will feature state-of-the-art learning environments, childcare spaces, EarlyON rooms, and opportunities for students to pursue Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM) in areas such as STEM and agriculture.

"We're building a school that supports students across the entire continuum from their first day of kindergarten to their final walk across the graduation stage," said Girardi. "It's a place where relationships will flourish, transitions will be supported, and every student will be known, seen, and valued."

The location near The Shores Recreation Centre was selected in consultation with municipal partners to ensure accessibility and safety, with additional amenities like a rink and gym nearby.

Local and provincial leaders, including Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook and Lambton Kent Middlesex MPP Steve Pinsonneault, joined the celebration and shared their support. Remarks from Education Minister Paul Calandra emphasized the school's role in modernizing education in rural communities and creating a hub for learning and connection.

As construction planning continues, LKDSB remains committed to honouring the significance of the site and its role in reconciliation with Indigenous partners. "This school represents a step forward in our ongoing journey one rooted in respect, partnership, and shared purpose," said Girardi.

The Blue Coast District School is expected to be completed within two years of construction start. It will stand as a symbol of progress, unity, and educational excellence for generations to come.
