LANGARA COLLEGE
From Langara to Anywhere: University Fair helps guide students on their educational journey

October 22, 2025

As Canada's premier pathways college, Langara College helps thousands of students begin their university journey with confidence. To support that goal, the Academic Advising team is hosting a University Fair on October 22 to connect current Langara students with representatives from universities such as UBC, SFU, UNBC, University of Alberta, and more.

Many students start at Langara with a vision, may it be earning their university degree, launching a career, or exploring new opportunities. The University Fair helps turn that vision into a clear, achievable path by connecting students directly with university representatives. The event offers a chance to learn about programs, admissions, and the transfer pathways available. Academic Advisors will also be on hand to answer questions and help students plan their next academic step.

Canada's premier pathways college

Langara acts as a springboard to university for many students by offering smaller classes sizes, lower tuition, and supportive faculty. Langara continues to be the leading pathway to university in B.C. and our goal is to make transferring simple, transparent, and accessible for every student. For Carmela de Torres, Academic Advisor for Student Services, these factors make a significant difference for students preparing to transfer.

"We are a smaller, more supportive setting for students," said Carmela, "while also having lower tuition."

Get ahead of the transfer process.

Carmela encourages students to attend the University Fair with a clear idea of their target programs and questions. She recommends students to check the event page for the full list of universities participating and preparing ahead. "And don't forget to take away business and contact information," Carmela adds. Select institutions and faculty programs will be hosting presentations and information sessions.

With literally hundreds of transfer and articulation agreements, Langara ensures students' hard work counts toward their degree goals. One of the most common mistake students make, Carmela notes, is relying on word-of-mouth information instead of official sources. "Students will hear something from a friend or a classmate about how to transfer to a university and assume that is correct," she explained. Students need personalized information for their specific goals and studies, which is why Carmela recommends students speak with an academic advisor as early as possible.

Students often aren't just taking courses. They're also preparing for the next stage of their academic journey. Academic Advisors are here to guide you.

Whether your next stop is across the city or across the country, Langara helps you get there. The University Fair event hosted by the Academic Advising Centre takes place Wednesday, October 22 from 10:30 to 2:30 in the A-Building Main Foyer on the main campus.

Visit the University Fair to meet university reps face-to-face and connect with Academic Advising early to map out your transfer plan.

Langara's Academic Advising Centre is available by drop-in and appointment from Monday to Friday to answer questions for students interested in transferring.
