The new academic year is off to a strong start at Cambrian College.
Cambrian has recorded its highest domestic enrolment since 2017.
Cambrian's official enrolment this term stands at 4686 total students, including 4074 domestic students.
Approximately 613 international students from 50 countries are also registered for classes.
"This is a very encouraging result for Cambrian and reflects the work we have been doing to grow our domestic student population," says Janice Clarke, Vice-President Academic. "Reaching our highest domestic enrolment in almost ten years demonstrates that students here at home continue to see Cambrian as a place where they can build their skills, prepare for a career and create opportunities for their future."
Approximately 54 per cent of all domestic applicants who applied to Cambrian this semester were from outside the Sudbury and Algoma-Manitoulin districts, Cambrian's traditional catchment area.
One-third of Cambrian's students are at least 24 years old, as more people already in the workforce or with prior post-secondary education return to school to upgrade their skills.
"Our enrolment mix is changing, but Cambrian continues to be a strong destination for students," adds Clarke. "Growing our domestic enrolment is an important part of positioning the college for the future and ensuring we continue to provide the skilled graduates that employers and communities need, whether here in the north or across Ontario, Canada, and the world."
