UNIVERSITY OF REGINA
U of R partners with Togetherall to support student mental health

October 11, 2024

As part of its commitment to consistently fund and coordinate mental health resources, the U of R has partnered with Togetherall, a digital mental health wellness platform that provides a safe, 24/7 online community where students can access peer-to-peer emotional support and other resources such as tools and courses. The partnership is part of the University's broader mental wellness strategy, which follows a "stepped care" model which offers various levels of support, from self-help to intensive clinical care.

"Student Mental Health's current model of care is consistent with the stepped care approach that is widely implemented by post-secondary institutions across Canada and the US," says Dr. Jenny Keller, manager of Student Mental Health. "Until our partnership with Togetherall, there was a gap in our care model. Peer support was something we couldn't fully provide. Togetherall fills that gap perfectly."

Togetherall supports student autonomy in finding the right support at the right time and in the format they prefer. It empowers students to take control of their mental health journey Dr. Jenny Keller , Manager, Student Mental Health

Togetherall serves some 4.6 million students at more than 450 colleges and universities around the world. It is a leading online support community where students can safely share their thoughts at any time. Students connect with others who have similar experiences, and licensed clinicians are always watching to keep the community safe and supportive. These clinicians help guide the peer support and make sure the environment stays positive and secure.

"Togetherall supports student autonomy in finding the right support at the right time and in the format they prefer," Keller says. "It empowers students to take control of their mental health journey."

John Smith, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs) says the partnership with Togetherall complements the range of services already available on campus.

Togetherall is a recent addition to the U of R's mental health supports. It's a safe space where students who are feeling down or struggling with mental well-being can get peer-to-peer support and professional online counselling 24/7.

"We are excited to offer our students another tool to support their mental health," Smith says. "Togetherall gives students the autonomy to find the right supports while also maintaining a sense of community. It really enhances the suite of wellness resources we already provide."
