WATERLOO REGION DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Student Wellness Conference: Finding Your Balance

April 17, 2026

The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) Student Wellness Conference, held at The Family Centre in Kitchener, welcomed approximately 90 students from 13 schools and one Alternative Education site from across the WRDSB to explore the theme: Finding Your Balance.

Student mental health and well-being continue to be top priorities for the WRDSB. When we are mentally healthy, we create space for learning and growth.

Students engaged in workshops on time management, online safety, social media use, boundary setting, reframing balanced eating, healthy relationships, and more. Guided by social workers, community partners, and mental health professionals, participants explored a range of perspectives on wellness, reinforcing the idea that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

Finding balance is about discovering what harmony looks like for you.

In a supportive and uplifting environment, students and staff engaged in meaningful dialogue, learned practical strategies, built connections, and strengthened a sense of belonging. To start the day, a video was shared where staff asked students, "How do you find your balance?"

Throughout the day, students connected with community partners and discovered available resources across the region.

This initiative aligns with the WRDSB Strategic Plan and Mental Health and Addictions Strategic Plan, supporting student and staff well-being and fostering healthy environments that benefit everyone.
