Sensory rooms are used to satisfy students' sensory and self-regulation needs so that they are better able to participate and engage in learning within the classroom.
Harry Balfour School offers students two completely different sensory room experiences (pictured) - one room provides a calming environment, while the other offers a heightened experience for releasing energy and engaging in alerting activities.
Tools used include fibre-optic lighting, crash mats, hammocks, inflatables, a projector, mirrors, and stimulation stations for touch, smell, sound and sight.
