The University of Regina has released its 2026-2035 strategic plan, Together, We Serve. This plan sets a clear and confident direction for the University's evolution over the next 10 years, articulating how we will learn, discover, build, put things right, and innovate as one unified institution in a period of profound change.
Together, We Serve is the result of broad, inclusive consultation with students, faculty, staff, alumni, Indigenous partners, and community stakeholders. It reflects the shared values and collective ambition of the university and all our partners, as well as a commitment to listening, learning, and working together.
"Together, We Serve outlines a bold vision for the future of the University of Regina while honouring the history and strengths of our institution," says Dr. Jeff Keshen, President and Vice-Chancellor. "By focusing on strategic priorities that advance learning, discovery, innovation, and Truth and Reconciliation, we're moving into the future with purpose and a renewed commitment to serving our community and the world."
Social, economic, and ecological responsibility is woven through every aspect of Together, We Serve, reflecting the University's obligation to the immediate and long-term public good and to the next generations. The plan outlines five strategic priorities that will guide the University's work over the next 10 years:
- Together, We Learn
- By 2035, we will offer one of Canada's most distinctive and transformative learning experiences.
- Together, We Discover
- By 2035, we will be recognized as a research-intensive comprehensive university distinguished by teaching excellence and nationally known for engaged scholarship.
- Together, We Build
- By 2035, we will be recognized as one of Canada's most engaged and community-connected universities.
- Together, We Put Things Right
- By 2035, Truth and Reconciliation will guide learning, research, governance, and campus life.
- Together, We Innovate
- By 2035, we will be recognized as a values-driven digital institution where innovation strengthens learning, research, and human connection.
Together, We Serve lays out ambitious goals for 2035, as well as a framework to support University Leadership in aligning decision making and resource allocation to support those goals and ensure accountability.
"We have a clear vision for the next decade at the University of Regina, and it's an exciting time to be part of this journey from the very beginning," says Adynea Russell, Chair of the University of Regina Board of Governors. "By building transparency and accountability into the plan, we're not only sharing what we're going to achieve, but how we're going to get there."
The creation of Together, We Serve was facilitated by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee.
"This plan was shaped by the voices of our entire community," says Dr. Aziz Douai, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research and chair of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee. "Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners shared their ideas, their aspirations, and their hopes for the future of the University. The result is a plan that reflects our shared values and our shared commitment to serving our communities together."
Over the next 10 years, the 2026-2035 Strategic Plan will serve as a living framework that will guide decision-making, investment, and accountability at the University of Regina. It can be found at http://www.uregina.ca/strategic-plan.
