Last year, in partnership with the City of Delta, an Aquatics Certification program was piloted with a single cohort of 24 students. 20 students successfully completed the certification, and in doing so, fulfilled the necessary prerequisites to become eligible for employment as an Aquatics Instructor. In addition, each student will be very close to completing the lifeguard certification and will be eligible to apply as a lifeguard in Delta.
The program has been expanded to all schools in North Delta for the 2024/25 school year. From now until June 2025, students are taking:
- Bronze Medallion
- Bronze Cross
- Swim and Life Saving Instructor
- Standard First Aid
In addition to the above certificates, students will receive Active Living 11 or 12 credits. The program takes place at Sungod Recreation Centre.
