Camosun College Athletics is thrilled to announce that Craig Beaucamp is joining the Chargers as head coach of the men's basketball team.
As one of the most accomplished coaches in Canadian basketball, Beaucamp brings more than three decades of head coaching experience, a proven record of championship success, and extensive experience on the international stage.
Most recently, he served as assistant coach with the University of the Pacific men's basketball team. During his two seasons with the NCAA Division I program, he helped shape a dramatic turnaround, improving the squad from a 6-26 record with no conference wins to an 18-15 record and a trip to the conference quarterfinals during the 2025-2026 season.
Prior to his time in the NCAA, Beaucamp spent 21 seasons as head coach of the University of Victoria (UVIC) Vikes men's basketball team. Under his leadership, the Vikes compiled an outstanding 401-218 overall record and a 283-128 Canada West record. His tenure included five conference championships, a U SPORTS silver medal, and multiple national championship tournament appearances.
He guided the Vikes to three consecutive Canada West titles from 2021 to 2024 and led the team to a 17-3 conference record during the 2023-2024 season. In the same season, UVIC was consistently ranked number one or two nationally, led the country in scoring with 92 points per game, and posted one of the strongest defensive performances.
For his achievements, Beaucamp earned seven Coach of the Year honours, including six Canada West Coach of the Year and a U SPORTS Coach of the Year.
In addition to his time in U SPORTS and the NCAA, he also brings a wealth of international coaching experience with Canada basketball. This includes:
- Assistant Coach - FIBA U19 World Championship
- Assistant Coach - FIBA AmeriCup Senior Team
- Head Coach - FIBA Americas Cadet Men's Qualifier
- Assistant Coach - FIBA Americas Junior Men's Qualifer
- Assistant Coach - Pan American Games
Beaucamp holds a level 4 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certificate, a Bachelor of Education (Kinesiology) from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Masters of Education (Coaching Studies) from UVIC.
"I am incredibly grateful to join Camosun College and lead the Chargers," said Beaucamp. "Returning to coach in Victoria is a tremendous opportunity to build upon this program's rich history and recent success. My focus is entirely on continuing our momentum and ensuring we sustain a high standard of excellence both on the court and in the community. We are focused on the future and excited to keep moving this program forward."

We feel privileged to welcome someone who has had such tremendous success, and impact on the greater basketball community; especially considering Craig has shown a commitment to a holistic student-athlete experience," said Cory Ahlers, Athletics Coordinator. "His foundational belief of building a culture that fosters transformative experiences for student-athletes is one that aligns with our values at Camosun. Craig is the perfect candidate to seize an opportunity to build upon the successes of our men's basketball program."
