The Lambton Kent District School Board is proud to share that their very own Matt Sanders and Trevor Martin have been nominated for the 2025 Business Excellence Awards - Technology Award, presented by the Wallaceburg Chamber of Commerce.
This award celebrates individuals and organizations that use technology to enhance services, create new opportunities, and contribute to a stronger, more connected community. Sanders and Martin have done just that helping launch and grow LKDSB's Esports program into a thriving, inclusive space for student engagement and innovation.
Since its inception in 2022, Esports has opened new doors for LKDSB students offering a chance to compete, collaborate, and explore future-ready skills in a rapidly growing global industry. For many students, it's also a meaningful way to connect with peers and be part of a team outside traditional athletics.
Both Sanders and Martin were quick to credit the program's success to a strong network of support across the district.
"This program could not have taken flight without the incredible efforts of our LKDSB IT team," they shared. "From infrastructure to implementation, they helped us navigate every challenge and ensured the program was built with student safety and security at the forefront."
They also extended heartfelt thanks to the teachers and coaches who have championed Esports from the beginning, volunteering their time, mentoring students, and creating inclusive spaces where learners of all backgrounds can thrive.
Through collaboration, innovation, and care, LKDSB's Esports program continues to grow and this nomination is a testament to the power of teamwork and vision.
Congratulations to Matt Sanders and Trevor Martin on this well-deserved recognition and thank you to everyone who continues to make Esports a meaningful part of student life at LKDSB.
The awards will be handed out at the CBD Club in Wallaceburg on Friday, November 7th and the LKDSB wishes all nominees the best of luck.
