The University of Guelph is ranked among the most prestigious universities in the world, according to the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings.
U of G placed 201-300 worldwide in the rankings and tied for ninth among Canadian institutions. This is the first time U of G has been included in THE World Reputation Rankings.
THE World Reputation Rankings invites top academics from around the world to take part in an Academic Reputation Survey, asking them to pick their top 15 universities for research and teaching within their area of expertise.
Dr. Rene Van Acker, interim president and vice-chancellor, says inclusion in the ranking speaks to U of G's rising reputation within the academic community.
"Our inclusion in these global rankings showcases an increased recognition of U of G among academics around the world," Van Acker says. "It highlights the valuable and diverse work of our researchers across disciplines, along with the excellence of our faculty."
THE World Reputation Rankings are among the world's most respected university rankings. This year's rankings used a new methodology, scoring institutions based on vote counts, pairwise comparison and voter diversity.
In January, U of G was ranked among the top 150 universities in the world for life sciences in the 2025 THE World University Rankings by subject.
