Northlands College held its annual University graduation ceremony on May 5th, 2023, at the JRMCC in La Ronge, SK. The ceremony was a momentous occasion, with graduates, guests, and staff coming together to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2023.
The ceremony began with prayers from Resident Elder of Northlands College, Elie Fleury, and Margaret McIntyre. Honorable guests, including Dr. Solina Richter, Dean of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Lynn Jansen, Interim Associate Dean, Distributed Nursing Education, University of Saskatchewan, and Dr. Beth Bilson, Interim Dean, College of Education, University of Saskatchewan, were also in attendance and delivered inspirational messages to the graduating learners. Dr. Jeff Keshen, President of the University of Regina, delivered a special video message for the graduates.
Kory Morvik, Director of University Studies at Northlands College, expressed his jubilation for the graduates, saying, "I am so proud of all our graduates. They have worked hard to get to this point, and their success is a testament to their dedication and perseverance."
Karsten Henriksen, President & CEO of Northlands College, addressed the graduates saying, "As you go out into the world, remember that you are the future of our communities. Your education and experiences have prepared you to make a positive impact, and we can't wait to see all that you will achieve."
On the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People, individuals in attendance, along with guests and staff, came together to honor the memories of those Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who have been reported missing or murdered across Canada.
The Class of 2023 is a shining example of the excellence and dedication that Northlands College instills in its learners. Congratulations to all the graduates, and best wishes for a bright and successful future.
