In response to a request from the new community of practice for members and coordinators of college research ethics boards (REBs), the Association pour la recherche au collégial (ARC) is offering a training session on the most recent changes to the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS 2). This session will be held online on November 30, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Montreal time).
The TCPS 2 (2022) version is the reference framework guiding the work done by REBs of institutions that have signed the Agreement on the Administration of Agency Grants and Awards by Research Institutions. This framework was updated in 2022, and the session will provide insight and increased understanding of the changes made to this agreement. Topics for discussion will include the principle of broad consent for the storage of data and human biological materials for future unspecified research, as well as streamlining multi-jurisdictional research ethics review of minimal risk research. The instructor will be Erika Kleiderman, the Senior advisor for research ethics at the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research.
Note that discussions with the resource person can be held in both English and French. This activity is reserved for members and coordinators of college REBs. Note that in order to encourage an open discussion and full participation, the discussion part of the session will not be recorded. However, those registered will be able to view the informative part offline. Anyone interested in registering for the session can fill out the following form: https://forms.gle/fhETXTqKmfubBgx57. Individuals from institutions or organizations that make a contribution to ARC will be allowed to participate free of charge. Otherwise, the fees are outlined in the fee schedule.
