RELEASE POINT EDUCATION
Developing Strategies for the Inclusion of Military-Connected Learners

March 5, 2024

In a significant stride toward enhancing postsecondary education accessibility for Canadian Armed Forces-connected learners, Release Point Education has emerged as a pioneer, implementing ground-breaking strategies in partnership with several Canadian colleges. This initiative underscores a shared commitment to bridging the educational gap for a unique and underrepresented segment of the student body, ensuring their seamless transition and success in academia.

Innovative Campus Strategies Across Canada

Release Point Education has successfully collaborated with Fanshawe College, Georgian College, Loyalist College, and Nova Scotia Community College to introduce military-connected campus strategies. These strategies are tailored to meet the distinct needs of military-connected learners, encompassing current Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, their immediate families, and Department of National Defence civil servants.

The collaboration extends to ongoing work with Lambton College, further broadening the impact of these initiatives.

Memorandums of Understanding: A Leap Towards Educational Accessibility

In an effort to reduce barriers to postsecondary education for military-connected learners, Release Point Education has facilitated two significant inter-college Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The first MoU unites Nova Scotia Community College, Loyalist College, and Portage College, while the second brings together Fanshawe, Georgian, Humber, Lambton, and Loyalist Colleges. These MoUs are pivotal in fostering a supportive and inclusive academic environment for military-connected learners.

Enhanced Self-Identification with the Ontario College Application Service

Release Point Education worked in collaboration with the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS) to introduce an option for military-connected learners to self-identify on applications. This initiative is a crucial step towards recognizing and addressing the needs of this underrepresented group, providing essential data to tailor support and resources effectively.
