ASSOCIATION POUR LA RECHERCHE AU COLLÉGIAL
ARC Student Prizes and Relève étoile designations: to salute the research done by college students

April 8, 2024

The Association pour la recherche au collégial (ARC) is inviting students from the Québec college and Canadian French-language school networks to submit their applications for this year's edition of the Student Prizes by April 15, 2024. The first prize is a $1,500 scholarship, the second a $1,250 scholarship, and the third a $1,000 scholarship. Once again this year, ARC is offering every student who is recognized as a Québec resident and has entered the ARC Student Prizes competition the opportunity to also receive a Relève étoile designation, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize.

The ARC Student Prizes aim to acknowledge student participation in research-learning activities across all programs and disciplines conducted in public and private colleges. Eligible research is any research conducted within such an institution by a candidate enrolled in a program of college studies, in one of the three research sectors: Society and culture, Health, or Nature and technologies. With respect to the Relève étoile designations, a Québec student enrolled in an institution outside Québec is also eligible to be a candidate, if that person provides evidence of residence in Québec. Research may have been conducted by an individual or a team as part of a program of college studies (course, internship), an extracurricular activity, or employment as a research assistant, during the academic year 2022-2023 or 2023-2024. Research projects that did not receive one of the three ARC Student Prizes may be submitted a second time.

There are two stages in the competition: the first is an evaluation of the written portfolios; the second is an evaluation of the oral presentations by the students whose portfolios were selected as the three finalists. These presentations will take place on May 14, 2024, at the ARC colloquium (La diffusion de la recherche collégiale : un beau et grand défi!) to be held during the 91st Acfas conference. ARC agrees to produce a scientific poster in French for each of the three winning entries, prepared in consultation with the finalists. Acfas will cover the conference registration fees for the finalists, and ARC, the travel and accommodations fees for those who study in establishments who support ARC with an institutional contribution. In addition, COOPSCO will give them gift certificates. The ARC Student Prizes are supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec, Acfas, and COOPSCO.

Students who wish to enter the competition can find more information on the ARC website pages about the Student Prizes.
