BCIT programs accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health

Based in the UK, IOSH has over 50,000 members across more than 130 countries and is the largest global health and safety professional membership organization. This accreditation ensures that the programs adhere to international standards for safety and health education, thereby broadening graduate career opportunities worldwide.

BCIT is the first post-secondary to be accredited by IOSH in North America. Students within both the diploma and Advanced Safety Management certificate programs are now eligible for Student Membership with IOSH. As well, BCIT graduates who have one year of professional experience will be eligible for Technical Membership with IOSH. Being a technical member provides networking opportunities and professional development resources that will be invaluable to BCIT OHS program alumni.

BCIT Occupational Health and Safety diploma program

The Occupational Health and Safety diploma program is a two-year, full-time program that includes courses on the business side of OHS, such as human resources, communication, and leadership. Students learn through on campus lectures and labs, which includes exposure to case studies for practical workplace analysis and a variety of fieldwork for hands-on experience.

BCIT Advanced Safety Management certificate program

The Advanced Safety Management certificate is for students who have already completed the BCIT Foundations in Occupational Health and Safety associate certificate and are looking for a deeper understanding of safety management. Under BCIT's Flexible Learning model, Advanced Safety Management students can take a single course at a time or commit to the full program on a flexible schedule, according to the individual learners' needs.

BCIT has been a leading educator in Occupational Health and Safety since the first class of the diploma program began in 1982.
