Aidan Crandall, a Mechanical Techniques - Small Engine Mechanic student at Georgian's Midland Campus, took home silver in Outdoor Power and Recreation Equipment, while Ryle Reynolds, a Mechanical Technician - Precision Skills student at the Barrie Campus, won bronze in the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining category.

From May 29 to June 1, Georgian's gold medal winners from the Skills Ontario competition competed against the best students from each province at Canada's only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices.

Georgian also congratulates Skills Ontario gold winner Kyla Cosier for a strong showing at the national competition in the Esthetics category, earning a fourth-place finish.

Brett Austin, an Engineering and Environmental Technologies professor at Georgian, said participating in Skills Ontario and Skills Canada is a unique and rewarding experience for students and mentors.

"To work with young people who are passionate about learning in their areas of study is inspiring to everyone around them, including their peers," Austin said. "I would like to thank Georgian College staff and administration for their continued support and promotion of students in this series of competitions and thank each of our competitors for their effort and dedication."

Congratulations to the students, faculty and other supporters involved!
