Communities in Northern Saskatchewan will soon notice a fresh, eco-friendly shine at Northlands College as the institution transitions to sustainable, environmentally friendly cleaning practices across its campuses.
"Implementing eco-friendly cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting products is a natural progression for Northlands College as we strive to support environmental sustainability in our operations," said Michael McCormick, Vice President of Finance and Administration. Northlands College is transitioning to cleaning products, that are bio-degradable and have minimum to zero impact on the environment. A move that aligns with the college's sustainability practices and vision for the future.
This new initiative not only benefits the environment but also enhances the cleanliness of college facilities, an essential aspect given the college's role as a home to elders and other community members. "Our campuses are home to elders and other persons we care about. Ensuring their well-being through increased cleanliness is crucial," McCormick added.
Northlands College remains committed to fostering sustainability and continually seeks opportunities to contribute positively to the planet. In addition to the eco-friendly cleaning system, the college recently introduced EV charging stations at its campuses in Buffalo Narrows, La Ronge, Air Ronge, and Creighton, supporting the college's fleet of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs).
As Northlands College continues to lead by example in sustainability efforts, the institution underscores the importance of integrating environmentally conscious practices into daily operations to create a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
