Collège Boréal is pleased to officially announce its appointment as Service System Manager (SSM) for Northeastern Ontario. This significant milestone highlights the institution's ongoing commitment to education, innovation, and community service. The integration of employment services in this part of the province is set to be completed by 2025.
Following a rigorous bidding process required by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Collège Boréal was chosen as the region's SSM, showcasing exceptional leadership in workforce development and service delivery. This appointment cements the College's role as a key player in transforming the employment landscape in Northeastern Ontario.
Regional synergy
Building on the strengths of the existing employment services network, Collège Boréal has created a collaborative and efficient system. This system addresses the diverse needs of local job seekers and employers, including those on social assistance, individuals with disabilities, Indigenous individuals, Francophones, youth with higher support needs, and newcomers to the region.
Collège Boréal is spearheading a consortium that includes the District Social Services Administration Boards (DSSABs) in Northeastern Ontario, the City of Greater Sudbury, four Northeastern colleges (Sault College, Northern College, Cambrian College, Canadore College), and Miikana, an agency focused on Indigenous strategic development. The DSSAB members of the Consortium include those from the districts of Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma, Manitoulin-Sudbury, Parry Sound, Nipissing, Timiskaming, and Cochrane. Through this innovative, collaborative approach, Collège Boréal aims to enhance the region's responsiveness to local labour market demands, ultimately delivering impactful outcomes for job seekers, employers, and communities.
