Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is excited to welcome student-athletes and soccer fans from across Canada next fall. RDP was successful in its bid to host the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Soccer National Championship from November 5-8, 2025.
"We are proud to welcome the top Canadian collegiate women's soccer teams to Red Deer next year," says Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life at RDP. "We will leverage our success of hosting recent CCAA National Championships to ensure that student-athletes, athletics staff and fans across Canada have an enjoyable and memorable experience."
During the past few years, Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Soccer has continued to develop, becoming one of the most competitive programs in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). In 2022, the Queens (11-1-0) finished first in the ACAC South Division and won gold at the ACAC Championship, advancing to the CCAA National Championship. Even though injuries mounted at nationals, the RDP Queens showed determination in Quebec and placed sixth in Canada.
This fall, the Queens (9-3) ranked second in the South Division during the regular season and finished fourth in the 14-team league at the ACAC Championship in Grande Prairie.
"Mahziar Peyrow, Queens Soccer Head Coach, and his staff have done an excellent job of recruiting student-athletes who strive for excellence in the classroom, during competition and as ambassadors in the community," adds Stewart. "With nine first-year student-athletes and three second-year players this season, the RDP Queens will build on their experiences as they prepare to compete for both the ACAC and CCAA Championships in 2025."
Red Deer Polytechnic has extensive experience hosting athletics championships at both the conference and national levels. In recent years, RDP successfully hosted the 2019 CCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship and 2024 CCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship. Both prestigious events featured capacity crowds in the Fas Gas - On The Run Gymnasium located within the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre on RDP's main campus.
It is anticipated that hundreds of sports fans from central Alberta and communities across Canada will attend the four-day National Championship in November 2025 at Setters Place in Red Deer's Great Chief Park. The newly developed Setters Place features a synthetic regulation sized soccer field and a barrier free, three-story pavilion building with team change rooms and a media/timekeeper area.
On November 4, 2025, the CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship Awards Banquet and Opening Ceremonies held in Holiday Inn & Suites in South Red Deer will kick off the multiple day event. At the Awards Banquet, student-athletes and coaches from across Canada will be acknowledged for their impactful accomplishments throughout the regular season.
