Students and staff at North West College now have access to a secure, online reporting and information platform to report violence occurring in the campus community.
REES(Respect, Educate, Empower Survivors) is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week centralized online reporting and information platform that provides increased options for students and employees to report harm. It includes multiple reporting options and critical information about resources and supports available on campus and in the community.
The platform empowers members of the North West College campus community to document their experience and decide how or if they want to share their story with their post-secondary institution. They can share information or report anonymously if they aren't prepared to submit a formal report. The platform also provides resources available in our community for those seeking support from organizations outside of the college.
"We are grateful to be working with REES to empower survivors of incidents through a readily accessible reporting system - including the option to remain anonymous." said Dr. Eli Ahlquist, President and CEO of North West College. "We appreciate that such incidents have a lasting impact on a survivor, and as a college we intend to fully support individuals. Our partnership with REES allows us to identify and respond to issues within our community so that we can ensure our campus is a safe and supportive environment to both learn and work."
"REES is proud to support the campus community at North West College and applauds their leadership as our first partner in Saskatchewan," says Mary Lobson, founder of REES.
"We are excited to partner with REES as the first Saskatchewan institution to implement their platform," Dr. Priscilla Lothian, Vice President of Marketing and Student Experience said. "The entire college community is thrilled about this initiative, as it represents a significant step toward building a safer and more inclusive college environment for both staff and students."
As the first REES Campus partner in Saskatchewan, North West College joins Vancouver Community College, Lethbridge Polytech, Red River Polytech, Keyano College, St. Clair College and others across Canada in adopting the REES platform.
REES believes survivors and partners with leaders and change-makers from institutions, industries, public sector, private business and community organizations who are committed to supporting survivors and making change. REES stands for Respect, Educate, Empower Survivors.
