CHAMPLAIN COLLEGE SAINT-LAMBERT
Champlain Student Joins Montreal's New Roses FC team

January 24, 2025

Félicia Roy, a second-year Social Science Commerce student at Champlain Saint-Lambert, will make her professional debut this spring in the Northern Super League with Montreal's Roses FC.

The former midfielder with the Champlain Cavaliers represented Canada at the CONCACAF U17 Women's Championship and the U17 Women's World Cup.

Roy, from Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, said she is "extremely proud and grateful" to have been recruited by the team.

"This is a really great opportunity for us young soccer girls. It allows us to continue our sport at home in Montreal," she said. "It also allows us to be seen by other clubs or national teams, as the whole season will be televised by RDS and TSN, so a large number of people will be able to watch us."

At just 18, Roy is currently the youngest player to be signed to the new team.

"I think it's a great opportunity for me to be the youngest and to be able to play with older players, because I'm going to raise my level of play like never before, and I can only grow as a person and a player in an environment like this. Being one of the youngest players in the club will really help me to be a role model for the younger players who aspire to be professionals one day, because they see me and can tell themselves that it's possible even if we're young to be able to sign at a young age."

"So my role as a young player and one of the youngest will be to inspire future generations and I'm very proud to say that I'll be able to help motivate these young girls who play soccer."

Montreal Roses FC will join the Vancouver Rise FC, Ottawa Rapid FC, Halifax Tides FC, Calgary Wild FC and AFC Toronto in the new Canadian circuit.
